Mulch

Nothing adds to the splendor of a healthy, well-manicured lawn like a mulch bed. A dark brown shredded hardwood mulch bed complements the green grass and gives your home a well-manicured look. The best thing about mulch is that it is not only pleasing to the eye but it promotes healthy plant growth. A base of 2-3 inches of shredded hardwood mulch underneath Plants or Shrubs 1 or 2 times a year adds organic matter to the soil which is vital to plant growth.

The mulch service provided by Lawn Envy includes weeding, bush trimming and edging. Weeds not only look terrible, they can use up vital nutrients that plants need. In most cases we will remove them by hand but there may be some cases where additional care will be needed. Our Pest Management service aids in keeping persistent weeds from reappearing.

Some beds have Plants or Shrubs that need a haircut. When we mulch we also trim shrubs and prune plants to give them a healthier look. Many shrubs will need trimming more often than mulch is needed. We can take care of that for you without you ever having to pick up the phone. Click on our Bush and Shrub Maintenance Plan for more details.

Sometimes the outline of a mulch bed can be compromised because of run-off, traffic or even animals. With a clean 4-inch edge mulch in the yard is greatly reduced. It also gives it a cleaner look. The edge comes standard with our mulch jobs and if you are on our Weekly Maintenance Plan we maintain it throughout the season with a weed-eater at no extra cost.

Typically after a few weeks those persistent weeds start to pop up again even with a thick layer of mulch. To keep ahead of the game we have a Round-Up Weed Reducer Plan that helps eliminate unwanted weeds at the root. Click on Round-Up Weed Reducer Plan anywhere on this web site to get more details.

The mulch we use is shredded hardwood mulch. It has a dark brown color and stays dark for most of the season. Upon request we can use a different mulch but this is what we recommend. When the job is finished you will be amazed at the difference a little mulch can make!
